The mission of the Maize Solar Initiative is to raise funds to install systems that convert sunlight into electricity thus saving the district money, reducing carbon emissions, and leaving a legacy for future generations. Solar Energy
Renewable & Free
Solar energy is a free source of energy that is sustainable and totally inexhaustible, unlike fossil fuels which are finite. It is also a non-polluting source of energy and it does not emit any greenhouse gases when producing electricity.
Maize High School Benefits
Once our panels are fully operational, Maize High School will be getting enough power from the sun that we could equivalently be “off the grid” for about 40 days out of the year. Along with providing Maize High School with power the solar panels will reduce the dependency on utility providers. Therefore, saving money because of the fluctuating costs of utilities.
